Wow, I couldn't believe that "Bill Nelson" e-mail me about my doll that I have on ebay!
For those who don't know "Bill Nelson" is an award-winning, internationally known illustrator, sculptor of ventriloquist figures, automata and one of a kind dolls.
He said "From one doll artist to another".. Wow, never thought I would be called an artist by a real artist.
There was a buyer(from ebay) that had bought from me for right at year. Every day She would make sure to remind me that I was no artist because I didn't have a degree in art.. Hmmm??? I make "primitive" folk art dolls.. Does that mean I am no artist just because she told me that every day? I believe the answer is No! Even still that has stuck in my head, maybe I'm never going to be a great artist but I will be the best doll maker that I can be with Gods help.
Bill Nelson is a man God, very inspiring and it was a great honor to have chatted with him.

- Mae Hoover was born in Texas and traveled the world by being an Army Brat. As a Child she didn't have a lot of dolls, most were left behind in her many moves. Mae has had great deal curiosity in the mechanics of doll making and clothes. When she was just 11 years old, she asked her Mother for an old Sheet. Her mother was resistance but gave her the sheet anyway. Mae cut and Hand stitched her first Halloween Dress without a pattern. She has been hooked ever since. Designing and creating dolls is her passion. She has a natural ability when creating "One of a Kind Fabric and Clay Dolls". The Scissors are her Pen and the Fabric is her Paper.... She never using molds when working with the Clay. She only works with the gifts that have been given to her by God. Always made with "a Wing and a Prayer". It's Simply because she hit a truck loaded down with cows, hit her head and woke to see cows with wings.. She had a second chance at life.. God is Good!
